New AED Mar 6/09
The Churchbridge First Responder group has recently received a brand new Automated External Defibrillator. An AED is a tool that automatically diagnoses life threatening heart rhythms. If required, the AED can deliver a shock to stop the deadly rhythm, and allow the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm. According to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, more than 40 000 Canadian lives are lost each year due to cardiac arrest. Defibrillation improves survival rates up to 30% if delivered in the first few minutes. With each passing minute, the probablilty of survival declines by 7% to 10%.
The purchase of this AED was made possible by donations from the Churchbridge Lions Club and the Churchbridge Lioness Club.

New First Responders Jan 25/09 Four Churchbridge Firefighters have recently become First Responders. Ted Putland, Dustin Eskra, Dianne Berg and Blake Banga have recently finished a first responder program held in Churchbridge. First Responders are trained to provide medical treatment to stabilize patients prior to the arrival of a responding ambulance. They will join Kevin Eskra, Jim Gallant, Brandon Eskra, Tanner Eskra, Jason Dressler and Jaremy Gordon, who are already First Responders. On Saturday October 25th 2008, during a response to a wildland fire west of Churchbridge, our 1972 international (engine 2), suffered engine problems on the highway. After the call, Engine 2 was towed back to our firehall and inspected. It was determined that a leak caused the engine oil to drain onto the highway, causing the engine to seize. Engine 2 is has been retired, and Churchbridge Fire Rescue is now looking for an apparatus to replace it. Recruiting New Members - Jan 6/09
